NAUIAP annual conference (Denver, Colorado) June 26-30, 2023
The National Association of Unemployment Insurance Appeals Professionals (NAUIAP) Board of Governors cordially invites you to this year’s Annual Training Conference. The Training Conference will be held in Denver, Colorado, at the Sonesta Denver Downtown Hotel from June 26th through June 30th. The hotel rate is $199 per night and we secured this rate for both the weekend before and the weekend after, so come early and stay late!
The Conference begins with an opportunity to renew old acquaintances, or to make some new ones, at a “Meet and Greet” reception on the evening of Monday, June 26th in the hotel lobby. The Conference proper kicks off the following morning with breakfast on Tuesday, June 27th, and runs through noon on Friday, June 30th. The Conference Agenda Committee is finalizing the Agenda, which will be filled with many exciting speakers and topics, including updates from USDOL and NASWA; information related to ETA Handbook 382; Training Methods for onboarding new Judges and Board Members; a variety of training sessions from state and federal experts, in both plenary and interactive breakout sessions; as well as several sessions which should qualify for Continuing Learning Education (CLE) credits with your home states. Stay tuned for the official unveiling of the Agenda, as many, if not all of us, will need it to secure travel authorization.
Registration for the Conference is $595 per attendee, which includes a One Year Individual Membership for those who are not covered by a State Membership plan. If you hale from a state with a State Membership the Conference Registration fee is only $545. Please reach out to me if you would like your state to join the growing ranks who purchased a State Membership. A link for Conference Registration will soon be posted on the NAUIAP website.
In addition to the training opportunities, we are scheduling some fun, optional, evening activities to get together with colleagues outside of the “work day.” Along with the “Meet and Greet” reception Monday evening, there will be a group outing on Tuesday evening and a night at Coors Field on Thursday to catch the Colorado Rockies as they host the Los Angeles Dodgers. We reserved The Rooftop Deck area, which overlooks right field. Check out the “Seating Chart:” https://www.mlb.com/rockies/ballpark/seating-chart. These events should provide a greater opportunity to connect with your colleagues from around the country.
The Sonesta Denver Downtown hotel is accessible from Denver International Airport by light rail to the downtown Union Station for less than $15 each way, and Denver has a free bus loop service on a dedicated corridor which has a stop only two blocks from the hotel. Here is their website: https://www.rtd-denver.com/. The Sonesta Denver Downtown Hotel
is located in the Denver business district, near many parks and museums, the State Capitol building, and, of course, a wide array of restaurants.
“Denver 2023” should prove to be a great opportunity to finally get together; to share best practices; to discuss issues of common interest; and to come away with information and contacts that will benefit us in the important work we do. Add to that the CLE credits and we are sure your trip to Denver will provide you with useful information for your daily work, unrivaled networking opportunities and an experience you will remember always. See you in Denver!
Dan Doherty,
President
